It is a known and most common type of age-old kwh energy meter. It consists of a rotating aluminum disc that is placed on a spindle between two electromagnets. To the power the rotation speed of the disc is proportional, and by the use of gear trains and counter mechanism this power is integrated. With two silicon steel laminated electromagnets that are shunt and series, magnets it is prepared. A braking magnet is a kind of permanent magnet that moves a disc in a balanced position and to stop the disc while power gets off, applies the force that is opposite to the normal disc rotation. Flux is produced by a series magnet which is proportional to the flowing current, and a shunt magnet produces a flux that is proportional to the voltage. Due to the inductive nature, these two fluxes lag at 90 degrees. In the disk, the interface of these two fields produces schneider kwh meter current by utilizing a force, which is then proportional to the product of instantaneous voltage, current, and the phase angle between them. Over one side of the disc, a braking magnet is placed, which by a constant field provided by using a permanent magnet produces a braking torque on the disc. The speed of the disc becomes steady whenever the braking and driving torques become equal. With the gear arrangement, a shaft or vertical spindle of the aluminum disc is associated which then records a number proportional to the revolutions of the disc. This gear arrangement then sets the number in a series of dials and indicates energy consumed over time. In construction this type of energy meter is simple and due to creeping and other external fields, the accuracy is quite less. A major problem with these types of energy meters is that they are very much prone to tampering, which demands the use of an electrical-energy monitoring system. In domestic and industrial applications these series and shunt type meters are widely used.
When compared to electromechanical induction type meters electronic energy meters are an accurate, precise, and reliable type of measuring instrument. They consume less power and start measuring instantaneous when connected to loads. So, with its working principle, there is an explanation of the electronic type of single phase kwh meter.
